Good Evening, Roosevelt Families!

Congratulations to our Flag Football Teams for starting off the Spring Season strong! Our boys team won their first two games, and our girls team lost a close one in their first game then came back to win big in their second game. Mr. Barrios shared that our new Cheer Team did a great job cheering them on as well. Go Bears!

A shout-out to our RMS Music students who represented RMS at the SDUSD VAPA District Concert at the San Diego Civic Theatre. These students auditioned and were selected to participate in MS Honor Orchestra and Band. After a month-long series of late-night rehearsals with other talented musicians from all over SDUSD, they performed together wonderfully! Save the date to support RMS Jazz students at the SDUSD VAPA Honor Jazz Ensembles Concert on April 10, 7 PM at the Hoover HS Theatre.

Bike Club / Bike Assembly Success!!

Thank you to the Roosevelt Bike Club for planning a successful safety program for students and families. We had a full library and lots of great discussion!

Shout-outs to Bike Coalition of San Diego, Scripps Trauma Center, San Diego Velodrome, RMS Mr. Mosler and students for making this event happen to teach us about bike safety and new laws of the road!!
FREE ‘Test the Track’ clinic at the San Diego Velodrome for Roosevelt students only! Get the experience of riding a Velodrone track and get free instruction to see if you want more. Only 20 spots available, be the first to reply.

RMS Music “Give the Gift of Music” 2024

This past week, the RooFriends Music Boosters online “Give the Gift of Music” 2024 campaign has been aiming to inspire the RMS Community to INVEST in RMS Music with daily stories about our music students’ accomplishments and the program’s progress.

The 2024 fundraiser goal is $8000, 100 Donors. Today (3.25), we’re at $6305.00, 70 Donors. We will announce the “Give the Gift of Music” totals on Wednesday.
Let’s get to 100 Donors with the “High Five” $5 Community Outreach Donation.
- Give a $5 “High Five” to a Music Student, Section (Trumpets, Violins, etc), Ensemble (Beginning Orchestra, Percussion Ensemble), Music Staff (Mr. Garcia, Mr. Yacoub, Ms. Smith), Music Boosters or a Music Moment (Concert, Field Trip) to show your appreciation for RMS Music.
Let’s get to $8000 with a DONATION towards a live-music field trip, music competition festival, Digital Music subscription for the RMS Music Lab or the Music Room Wish List.

RooFriends Parking Fundraisers

RooFriends organizes Parking Fundraisers on event days and holidays when the San Diego Zoo and Balboa Park are typically very busy. When their parking lots are full, some visitors are pleased to make a donation to park on our school’s campus.

RMS Community Volunteers contribute greatly to the success of the RooFriends Parking Fundraisers. Volunteers earn $25 per hour for their designated RMS cause. Students* can clear tardies by volunteering for a shift (3 hrs) to clear 3 tardies; *students must be accompanied by a volunteering parent/guardian during their shift(s).
Parking Fundraisers are RooFriends’ biggest fundraiser! Remaining dates are available for signup now; check your calendar and sign up for a shift or two: SignUp: RooFriends Parking Fundraisers.

Construction Update

We successfully relocated the Upas St. entrance and exit for students to the gate in-between the Main Office and our 100 Building, as well as relocated the lunch area from the Kick Stage to the area near our Counseling Office. Students have adapted well, which we appreciate! Many students and staff shared their concern about losing our trees inside campus. I want to let everyone know that throughout the course of our construction, they will be planting 30 trees in and around campus. It was definitely hard to watch them come down!

Wednesday, March 27th will be SDHS’s Spring Showcase. This is a great event for current, incoming and prospective students and their families to come see all of the unique programs that SDHS offers. There will be booths for our academic programs, academies, athletics, IB, VAPA, JROTC, ASB, clubs, pathway programs and more! It will be from 5:00pm-7:00pm that evening.
