Good Evening, Roosevelt Families!

I hope you have enjoyed a nice weekend here in San Diego.  I am looking forward to seeing you at IB Fest on Thursday!  This year will be more of an open house model. Please see below for more information.  Please ask your students if they are interested in supporting their teachers set up and present!

Roosevelt Sports Updates – Go Bears!

Boys and Girls Flag Football competed hard on Saturday, with our boys losing one close game and winning the other.  Our girls lost their games but remain in good position to close out the season over the next two weeks.  I am waiting to hear results for our Wrestling team, they will be updated here when available.

After School Enrichment Reminder

Our After School Enrichment program has two more weeks left! We appreciate students continuing to attend. As a reminder, this is a free program for our students here at Roosevelt, we are thankful for our Roosevelt Foundation for their sponsorship!

Announcing RMS Academic League!

Roosevelt is hoping to compete in the San Diego City Academic League in the 2024-25 school year. You can learn more about academic league at this website. In the coming months, the district will provide more details and will host an information session for interested coaches, moderators, and players.

Much of the work to build a team will begin in August. But you can help us start now! If you know any students interested in playing (or any parents interested in helping), email Linda Christian at RMSacademicleague@gmail.com.

8th Grade Activities

As the grading period ended last week, this Friday students will learn if they are eligible for the 8th Grade Sea World trip. Requirements for the trip are: at least a 2.0 academic GPA, at least a 2.0 citizenship GPA, a maximum of 7 tardies, and no suspensions of any kind (please email me if you have questions about our appeal process).

  • These have been the requirements since the beginning of the year and have been communicated to your student many times.
  • If you are interested in chaperoning the field trip, please email Coach Corn ASAP at kcourneya@sandi.net
  • I also want to make sure it is clear that any student who shows up to Sea World who is not eligible will not be allowed to participate in the remainder of 8th grade activities, including the promotion ceremony.

San Diego Sharks Roosevelt Night, May 18th

This is a free opportunity brought to us by one of our parents!  If we bring a big enough group we may have a specific section closed off for just our school.  Our kids can go down on the court at the beginning to form the tunnel when the players come out!  Tickets are free for all students and families.  All fans are welcome to stay after for autograph signings and meet the team as well.

RooFriends Parking Fundraisers

RooFriends organizes Parking Fundraisers on event days and holidays when the San Diego Zoo and Balboa Park are typically very busy. When their parking lots are full, some visitors are pleased to make a donation to park on our school’s campus.

  • RMS Community Volunteers contribute greatly to the success of the RooFriends Parking Fundraisers. Volunteers earn $25 per hour for their designated RMS cause.  Students* can clear tardies by volunteering for a shift (3 hrs) to clear 3 tardies; *students must be accompanied by a volunteering parent/guardian during their shift(s).
  • Parking Fundraisers are RooFriends’ biggest fundraiser!  Remaining dates are available for signup now; check your calendar and sign up for a shift or two: SignUp: RooFriends Parking Fundraisers.
