You Are Invited to the FIRST RMS Music Families Meeting of 2023!!
ALL Band, Orchestra and 6th Grade Music Students and Families are encouraged to attend the RMS Music Families Zoom Meeting this Thursday, February 2 at 6:00 PM. The Zoom link will be available via the RooFriends Calendar, RooFriends Music Boosters Calendar, Friends of Roosevelt Foundation FB page, Families of Roosevelt MS (FORMS) FB group, RMS Music Families email and music students’ music Google Classroom.
The RMS Community – anyone interested in the RMS Music program – are welcome!!
For 6th Grade Students and Families NEW to the RMS Music program via the 2nd Semester 6th Grade Music course, Mr. Elias Kocivar (RMS Music Director) will provide an introduction (and maybe a demonstration!) on the Digital Music curriculum.
For all Music Students and Families, including Band and Orchestra, the RooFriends Music Boosters will discuss upcoming music education enrichment opportunities with La Jolla Music Society, Classics 4 Kids, Amateur Pianists, San Diego Symphony, Coronado Jazz Festival … and more!!
SDUSD VAPA Middle School Honor Ensembles Concert:
Saturday, February 4, 2:00 – 3:30 PM,
Point Loma Nazarene University-Brown Chapel.
After many rehearsals with other SDUSD Middle School musicians, RMS Music’s own students will perform in the SDUSD VAPA Honor Ensembles Concert this Saturday.
The concert is FREE (General Admission: open seating, no tickets).
Representing RMS Band and Orchestra: Oslo Treviño (Trumpet), Katherine Ferbert, Paige Shepherd Decker, Roma Snodgrass (Violins), Aileen Gienapp (Viola) and Sofía Buby (Double Bass). Together, they compose the largest group of RMS students in recent history to be included in the annual MS Honor Ensemble.
SDUSD VAPA Middle School Jazz Ensemble
The VAPA Foundation is forming the first ever district Jazz Ensembles!! Student musicians do not have to be enrolled in school music programs to audition.
Auditions: February 9 at Correia Middle School.
Performance: Friday, April 21 at Hoover High School.
