8th Grade Constitutional Debate: Thursday, December 9, 2021.
The 8th Grade Students in Mr. Cortes’ seminar program have been preparing for a Constitutional Debate competition. The “We the People State Hearing” event has a long history in local, state and federal programs to raise civic awareness in our school system.
The debate competition is an incredibly rewarding experience that promotes civics in the RMS 8th Grade curriculum. This is an incredible opportunity for Students to sharpen their presentation and debate skills while enhancing their knowledge of political issues of the day.
This Thursday, the Students will be engaged in the Constitutional Debate all morning and through the afternoon. Normally, this event would be held in-person at Grossmont College, with lunch provided. Due to COVID-19 precautions, the Students will do their presentations via Zoom in the RMS Library. Students might not have the opportunity to pick-up a school lunch from the RMS Cafeteria depending on the timing of their presentations.
Mr. Cortes would like to reward his Students for their hard work. RooFriends is stepping in to sponsor their lunch. RMS Families are invited to contribute to this treat by supplementing the lunch with fruit, snacks, beverages, dessert and supplies. Please sign-up to contribute. Thank You!!
