RooFriends Music Boosters thanks the San Diego Symphony for including the RMS Community in their newly updated Community Access Concert Tickets program!!

FREE Tickets for San Diego Symphony Community Access Concerts!!

We encourage RMS Students, Families, Teachers and Staff to enjoy live music – FREE – with the San Diego Symphony at The Rady Shell in Jacobs Park, the Jacobs Music Center and venues throughout San Diego County. 

  • Using the REQUEST for San Diego Symphony Community Access Concert Tickets SignUp, you may request up to FOUR tickets per concert.
  • PLEASEREQUEST TICKETS ONLY IF YOU CAN COMMIT TO ATTENDING THE CONCERT(S)!! Lack of attendance for reserved seats negatively affects our status in the Community Access Concert Tickets Program. 
  • RooFriends Music Boosters will contact you via email to transfer electronic tickets via the San Diego Symphony app to your email account (as listed in the SignUp). Tickets will be distributed a week before the concert date. 
  • Tickets are NOT FOR RESALE.

San Diego Symphony Community Access Concerts for May 2023

May 5 & 6 (Friday, Saturday, 7:30 PM, The Rady Shell): Garrick Ohlsson Plays Rachmaninoff.

  • Conductor Robert Spano leads the San Diego Symphony in Lutosławski’s Concerto for Orchestra. Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 3. represents the pinnacle of Romantic concerto writing, and the virtuosic American pianist Garrick Ohlsson takes on this dazzling concerto with fire and flair.

May 10 (Wednesday, 7:30 PM, The Rady Shell): Violent Femmes with the San Diego Symphony

  • In celebration of the 40th anniversary of their self-titled debut album, Violent Femmes will be playing the album in its entirety with the San Diego Symphony Orchestra.

May 13 & 14 (Saturday, Sunday, 7:30 PM, The Rady Shell): Star Wars: A New Hope – In Concert.

  • The San Diego Symphony Orchestra plays the music score LIVE along with the movie played on the The Rady Shell’s big screens.

May 20 & 21 (Saturday 7:30 PM, Sunday 5:00 PM, The Rady Shell): Barnatan Plays Brahms.

  • Hailed by the New York Times as “one of the most admired pianists of his generation,” Inon Barnatan brings us Brahms’ Piano Concerto No. 2. Plus, Music Director Rafael Payare and the Orchestra deliver an exciting world premiere by Iranian-American composer Gity Razaz. The evening closes with Dvořák’s Symphony No. 7.

May 26 & 27 (Friday, Saturday, 7:30 PM, The Rady Shell): Singing with the Devil: Payare and Cantata Criolla with San Diego Master Chorale.

  • San Diego Symphony Music Director Rafael Payare leads the Orchestra in works by two of Venezuela’s most notable composers. Antonio Estévez’s Cantata Criolla, a lively work based on a mythic poem about a singing contest with the Devil, and Evencio Castellanos’ Santa Cruz de Pacairigua, influenced by folk melodies, popular dance rhythms and medieval carols. Plus, French composer Paul Dukas’ La Péri, based on a Persian folk story filled with grandiosity, mystery and introspection—and an ebullient fanfare closing.
