Greetings, Roosevelt Families!
Our ASB students traveled to Santa Clara for the 4-day annual California Association of Student Leaders (CASL) Conference . Thank you Mrs. Leach and Mr. Fowler for organizing and chaperoning a wonderful experience for our students.
Congratulations to our boys flag football team for winning their first two games! Our girls team played well too, and they’ll be looking for their first victory next week. There are spots open on the girls team roster; any interested girls are encouraged to walk-on at after school practices on Mondays and Wednesdays.
Thank You to the Volunteers who staffed the RooFriends Parking Fundraiser on Saturday.
Monday is the last day of the RooFriends Music Boosters “Give the Gift of Music 2023” annual online campaign. We’re almost at the fundraising goal of $6500. Join us with your ONE DOLLAR Community Outreach Donation so that we can reach our goal of 100 DONORS. Please DONATE to support music education at our school.
I have been at a Principals Leadership Conference in Dallas and will return on Monday in time for our San Diego Cluster Community meeting at 5:30 pm. Hope to see you there!

IB Fest / 100 Year Celebration
Please save the date for our upcoming IB Fest! We will celebrate Roosevelt’s centennial anniversary with performances, special guests, musical performances from our band and orchestra, a DJ, Food Trucks, and more. All are welcome! I am inviting our feeder elementary schools as well. Please help us spread the word!
RMS Music Update
- Today is the final day of our annual “Give the Gift of Music” online campaign!
- April 21, 7PM, Hoover HS: SDUSD VAPA Jazz Ensemble Concert. RMS Jazz Band represents in the first-ever VAPA Jazz Ensemble!
- April 22, 11 AM – 12 PM, RMS Auditorium: Save the Date for the “Music for a Lifetime” Community Concert with musicians from RMS Orchestra, RMS Feeder Schools, SDHS and AmateurPianists.org. FREE, donations welcome. 4/22 Core Academy students will attend this RMS cultural enrichment curriculum event.

WORKSHOP OPPORTUNITY – Stop Motion Animation – Starting in May
This is a FREE workshop being offered twice a week at Sherman Heights Community Center- Learn animation techniques and create your own animated films! This awesome animation will take you on a journey to focus your creativity on bringing anything from concept to screen, from your toys to creating your own characters.
- For students 8-15 years old

New Student/Parent Arrival Workshops
There will be a workshop hosted by the Family Engagement department in collaboration with Say San Diego for newcomer families regarding parent involvement in schools.
- The next Zoom meeting is Tuesday, May 9th, from 5:30-6:30pm
Upcoming 8th Grade Sea World Field Trip Information on May 1st
- Permission slips will be passed out on 4/17 and due back to Coach Courneya on 4/24
- Students need to be eligible to attend; ineligible kids will be notified on 4/28
- Eligibility will be based on both academic and citizenship GPA from P4 which ends 4/21
- Counselors or administrators should be contacted if there is a question about eligibility due to
absences, tardies or behavior
