Principal’s Weekly Update (1.16.23)

Greetings, Roosevelt Families!  

In celebrating Martin Luther King Jr. this rainy weekend, I found this Scholastic article helpful in discussing Dr. King’s impact on our country with my son.  It is important to continue to honor the legacy of Dr. King and work towards a better future for us all.

Semester 1 ends this Friday, January 20.

• Semester 2 will begin Monday, January 23.
• Semester 1 grades will be available in PowerSchool on Friday, January 27.

RooFriends AfterSchool Enrichment (ASE) Application Due THIS TUESDAY!!  

Thank you RooFriends for continuing to organize and provide quality after school programming for our students! The deadline to apply for Spring 2023 ASE is THIS TUESDAY, Jan 17, 11:59 PM.

Spring ASE 2023 Updates:

• Diversionary Theatre Improv and Cosplay Clubs Are Back!
• Roosevelt MS Theatre Company (RTC) 2023 Spring Show Survey.
• NEW: Flamenco 101 and TWO days of Gardening Club. 
• ASE Creative Photography featured in MOPA exhibition until Feb 26.

New Pick-Up Plan Will Continue After School

We are asking for more after school pick-up zone volunteers to guide traffic and children til the end of the month.  Please sign-up for Student Safety!!

• ALL 3:14 PM student pick-up will take place in the Gravel Lot on Zoo Drive.
• We will open the Gravel Lot gates at 3:00 PM to let cars in.
• When rain impacts our Gravel Lot, we will resort to traditional after school pick-up on Zoo Drive.
