I hope you have had a good Veterans Day weekend.  Once again, thank you to all of the families in our community who have a loved one who has served or who is currently serving to protect our country.

Upcoming Minimum Day/Report Progress Period 2 ends this Friday, November 18th

• This coming Friday, November 18, is a Minimum Day.  6th Period will end at 1:44 pm.
• NO SCHOOL November 21-25 for Thanksgiving Break.
• Progress Report Period 2 Ends this Friday. Grades will be available in PowerSchool on December 2.

Sign-Ups for Soccer and Volleyball Tryouts

After a successful fall sports season that saw 92 teams and over 1,200 student athletes compete in basketball and track & field, SDUSD Middle School Athletics is excited to continue providing on-campus, structured athletics with the purpose of providing physical fitness, team-bonding and communication skills.  

All athletic teams are available to SDUSD students in grades 6-8 FREE of charge. The winter sports season will consist of soccer and volleyball teams. Sign-ups are currently open and will close on December 5th. Please sign-up for tryouts by using the link to the registration form below; details to follow.

8th Grade Promotion

SSC/SGT Meeting Updates

• Our next SGT meeting is this Thursday November 17: SGT agenda 11.17 and Zoom link.
  • The construction team working with our school will present a construction update
• Please vote for our next SSC Parent Representative here, thank you! 
  • Our next SSC meeting will be December 1.
  • If you are interested in joining SSC, we need one more volunteer.  Please let me know by Tuesday.

AUDITION for SDUSD VAPA MIddle School Honor Band and Honor Orchestra

• ALL SDUSD Middle School Student Musicians are invited to audition.  Students DO NOT HAVE TO BE ENROLLED in school band or school orchestra to audition.
• Auditions: December 1, 5:00 – 9:00 PM, CPMA Middle School.
• AUDITION materials (sheet music, etc) and registration are now available!!
• Instrumental music students: audition materials are in the Band and Orchestra Google Classrooms. 
• Contact Mr. EK if you are interested in auditioning for Honor Band (Brass, Woodwinds, Percussion) or Honor Orchestra (Strings): neliaskocivar@sandi.net.

Volunteer Chaperones for Field Trips

Get started now on your volunteer application to get on the list of approved chaperones.

Applications are online (sign-in with Student/Staff login) and hard copies are available in the school office.  Please contact Ms. Hernandez at shernandez4@sandi.net and Nurse Keesee at ckeesee@sandi.net for assistance with the process. Upcoming field trips include: 

• 7th Grade: San Diego Zoo (Dec 7). 
• Band & Orchestra (Instrumental Music, all grades): San Diego Symphony Open Rehearsal at The Rady Shell at Jacobs Park (Dec 7).

PRIDE (Personal Responsibility in Daily Excellence)Awards 

Each month teachers select one student to receive a handwritten PRIDE Award card.  Students were honored with a mini celebration at the Kick Stage before/after lunch with treats, and cheer, courtesy of ASB! Congratulations!
