Academic Summer School Information
Checkout the SDUSD Summer School website and SDUSD Academic Summer School flier for information and sign up for the five-week summer school session at Roosevelt IB MS (June 21 – July 22, 2022). The 2022 summer school curriculum is to be announced; the 2021 summer program provided opportunities for RMS Students to study the impacts of pollution and climate change on our water systems, and how we can all help.
San Diego Unified will once again offer all students a summer of learning and joy with free classes, free camps and free enrichment programs. Last year, more than 30,000 students took part in the program! All classes are taught by highly qualified and trained San Diego Unified educators. This is a great chance for your student(s) to continue learning over the summer and extend their education. Both academic and enrichment opportunities are at NO COST to families throughout San Diego.
The last day to enroll in the SDUSD Academic Summer School program is Monday, February 28, 2022. All applications received after the enrollment window closes will be considered based on space availability. If a student becomes eligible for Extended School Year (ESY) after the enrollment deadline of February 28, they can still enroll/register for ESY.
All academic program summer classes will support the academic and social-emotional needs of our students.
- Classes are taught by San Diego Unified educators at designated school sites. Education specialists will be assigned to sites to help support staff in meeting the needs of all learners.
- ESY services will be provided to students who have ESY services as part of their Individualized Education Program (IEP); specialized ESY programs will be provided at selected school sites.
Summer Enrichment Program
To compliment the rewarding learning experiences from our amazing educators, we are also partnering with the San Diego Foundation and dozens of local nonprofits to provide students with afternoon enrichment opportunities at NO COST to families throughout the city. Summer extended learning programming offered by our VAPA, CCTE, and community partners will be available throughout June, July, and August 2022. Extended learning opportunities will include sports camps, STEAM-based experiences, leadership institutes, internships, accelerated learning opportunities, etc. Enrollment and information about these programs will be made available to families mid-April: 2022 Family Letter Level Up.
Sincerely,
The Extended Learning Department, SDUSD
