Please consider engaging in one of the many School-Home Partnership opportunities available to Roosevelt Families. We appreciate your inputs and feedback!
Parent Involvement Update: This year, our goal is to increase parent access to our important updates. Last week, 92.4% of you received our phone calls and 93.1% received our emails. If you are not receiving RMS phone calls and emails, please call the School Office to update your contact information (email, phone number): 619-362-3850.
School Site Council (SSC) Opportunity: There are TWO spots for Parents/ Guardians to fill. If you are interested in nominating yourself for a spot, please email Principal Steinberger bsteinberger@sandi.net by this Friday, October 30th. Include the following information:
- Your Name.
- The grade(s) of your child(ren) at RMS.
- Your response to “Why are you interested in joining our SSC Team?” in 250 words or less.
Next week, the SSC election survey will be posted online and will also be available in the School Office.
The Roosevelt IB School Site Council (SSC) is an elected decision-making group comprised of parents, community members, site administrators, teachers and other staff. The SSC develops, implements, monitors and evaluates the site plan. The SSC oversees all the categorical funds such as Title I, Second Language and GATE. Please feel free to review our Title 1 Parent Meeting Presentation, SSC Parent and Family Engagement Policy 2020-2021 and SSC School Parent Compact.
No Place for Hate: Roosevelt IB is forming a committee of Students, Family, Teachers and Staff to coordinate activities that will make our school a safe and inclusive learning community. This is also a great opportunity for 8th Graders looking to fulfill their Community Service requirement. If you are interested in joining, please contact Vice Principal Ms. Reyes: kreyes@sandi.net.
Mascot Change Committee: We are looking into changing our Rough Rider mascot. There were many positives about President Roosevelt, but it is our opinion that the Rough Riders are not emblematic of the IB ideals that we aspire to. The Rough Riders were a group of wealthy men organized by President Theodore Roosevelt to create chaos in Cuba during the Spanish-American war and committed acts of violence. If you are interested in participating, please contact Principal Mr. Steinberger: bsteinberger@sandi.net.
