Dear Roosevelt Families,

I hope you had a restful break and were able to enjoy time with your families. Over the weekend the district sent an email home to families about picking up devices.  The Roosevelt pickup date is April 20th at San Diego High School, with last names A-L in the morning and M-Z in the afternoon.  Many of our teachers will reach out to you regarding their plan for your student over the next few weeks. We are giving teachers and students time to get up to speed, so as a reminder, assignments will not be graded until April 27th.  In the meantime, please log into your student’s classes with them to see what instructional content is available.

We will send a schedule home next week to block specific times to focus on each subject.  In the meantime, please work with your student on a schedule to help keep them focused on school.  My son and I planned a daily schedule together. I agree with experts that students are more likely to buy-in to their new schedule when they have some input.  I found this article helpful. Our emotional well-being is important to keep in mind as well.

My top priority continues to be providing devices and Internet access to students who do not currently have access.  If you have not already, please fill out this survey if you do not have access to either a computer or the Internet.  You can also call me if you need to: please leave a message on my voicemail at 619-362-3851, with your name, your student’s name, whether you need a device, the Internet, or both, and the best way to contact you and I will send more information as soon as I can.  I will forward this list to our district technology team.

Moving forward, we confirmed that state testing will be postponed until next year.  Additionally, we will send out guidance for 8th grade community projects in the coming weeks.  We understand students cannot complete the project and presentations as planned. Students can still fill out planning documents and reflect on their goals.

As a reminder, for updated district information, continue to check https://sites.google.com/sandi.net/covid19/home.  Food pick up locations are listed there and by calling 211.

Important Dates to Remember:

  • Monday, April 6 – Friday, April 24: Distance Learning begins, all work will remain enrichment
  • Monday, April 27: Distance Learning will officially become required for all students

Have a great week everyone.  Wishing your students the best as we continue to ramp up our learning away from school.  Please know the most common feeling among our staff is that we miss your children! We are hoping to see them soon and in good health.

Good night Roughriders and always remember your Roosevelt PRIDE – Personal Responsibility in Daily Excellence!

Sincerely,

Bernard Steinberger
Principal
Roosevelt International Middle School
