Dear Roosevelt Community,

It is with great honor that I send this email as incoming principal of Roosevelt Middle School.  I can already tell that Roosevelt is a unique and special place. I am incredibly excited to serve our community along with the excellent staff already in place in order to provide an outstanding education to our students.  I value collaboration, hard work, and love for children, and look forward to bringing my passion for working with students to school everyday.

I was born and raised outside of Washington, DC, in Maryland. I grew up with educators and was always drawn to teaching.  I started out as a substitute aide for a student with special needs in an elementary school, and realized how much fun it is to be in a classroom working with students.  After a two year position at a computer company, I found my way back to education, where I spent over eleven years as a math teacher, mostly at University City High School, and then over five years as an assistant principal at Canyon Crest Academy.

I want to join you in continuing to help our school improve.  I have heard how great our Friends of Roosevelt (RooFriends) group is at supporting our students and staff, and I look forward to spending time with as many parents as possible to gain perspective and share ideas.  Please keep an eye out for a future coffee with the principal.

Looking forward to meeting you all.

Sincerely,

Bernard Steinberger
Principal
Roosevelt Middle School
