ASE Fall Schedule
ASE Class Descriptions

RooFriends is excited to announce its widest ASE (After School Enrichment) offering yet for the Fall 2019 session with sixteen classes. Classes will run from September 16th through December 20th, with breaks for the weeks of October 22-24 for Parent-Teacher Conferences and November 25-29 for Thanksgiving.

Old favorites are back like Garden, MESA, Photography sponsored by MOPA, Art Studio, Cesar Chavez Service Club, Hip Hop dance, Girls in Science, GSA, and Strategic Games. But we’re thrilled to have a whole new slate of offerings, like Beginning Band, Beginning Strings, Improv with Diversionary Theatre, Classic Movie Reviews, Upcycling Design Lab, Junior Model United Nations, and No Place for Hate. All of these clubs are completely free to Roosevelt students, require no previous experience to participate, and some of them offer additional benefits–No Place for Hate is a great way to fulfill that 8th grade community service requirement; Beginning Band and Beginning Strings give 6th graders additional access to Roosevelt’s great music program.

Please note that the enrollment process has changed so first-come, first-served no longer applies; please read all about the new application process here. The enrollment period will run at a minimum from August 27 to September 7. Families will rank their choices for classes (1st choice for the student’s most wanted class, 2nd for the second most wanted class, and so on) up to nine classes. Classes will be filled from the 1st choice priorities, taking into consideration any other application process or specifically stated enrollment priority.

Enrollment priorities can be found in the class descriptions – some classes give priority to students who have never had the class before, some classes give priority to returning students, some give preferences to different grades. Please understand the enrollment priorities when filling out your ASE application form.

Thanks to the Museum of Photographic Arts and the Cesar Chavez Service Club for sponsoring their programs for our students, and thanks to all those who support RooFriends to make these offerings absolutely free to all our students.
