Mosaic Mural

Help us Create a Mosaic Mural on the Roosevelt IB Middle School
The Project:
To create a mural that will:
  • Inspire students to infuse creativity into their daily lives and leave behind a “service legacy” that will inspire classes and generations to come
  • Provide an opportunity for students to design the artwork and create a sense of “ownership” in the school campus
  • Teach the practical skills of construction a mosaic mural
  • Bring to life the school’s philosophy of compassion for humanity and responsibility for community service to create a better and more peaceful world
Who Benefits:

The population served will be the middle schoolers (grades 6-8) during the 2016-17 school year.  These students come from diverse backgrounds. In the 2015-16 school year among the 1000+ students 62% were latino, 17% caucasian, 14% African American and 7% other. 19% were english learners, 16% have special needs and 86% of students’ families qualified for free or reduced cost lunch. The entire San Diego School District school has had cuts in its arts funding, so this will be vitally important to student exposure for art. Please make a tax deductible donation and spread the word with our fundraising link: Generosity campaign

Attention Businesses and Service Organizations

Our Partners in Education (PIP) program is designed to recognize businesses, service organizations and individuals that support the school through financial sponsorship, in-kind contributions and/or volunteHow-Can-Help--element74er activities. In return they can select from a range of campus recognition opportunities (a.k.a. advertising) aimed to encourage parents, students, staff, neighbors and the general public to ywe their goods and services. (See list of current opportunities)

Grant Writing:

If you are with a company that makes educational grants, OR have grant writing experience OR have a project you think would interest organizations that make grants to education, Friends of Roosevelt is a not for profit foundation (EIN 38-3933254) and can host and administer such grants.

Company Gift Matching Opportunities
The value of your gift may be increased if your employer participates in the matching gift program to a non profit organization To see if your gift qualifies for a match, please contact your employer or check our matching gift company list which is certainly only a partial list. Friends of Roosevelt is a 501c3 non profit and our EIN # is 38-3933254.
Appreciated Securities/Planned Gifts:
A gift of long-term, appreciated, marketable securities helps save you taxes twice. When you donate appreciated stocks or securities, you can deduct their full current value, not just what you originally paid, bypassing capital gains taxes. Such a gift provides an income tax charitable deduction and a capital gains tax savings. It is often the best asset for donors to give, especially when making larger gifts.
Planned gifts are gift arrangements to a beneficiary or beneficiaries named by the donor. A planned gift maximizes your giving potential and contributes to our school’s financial security.
For questions regarding appreciated securities, endowment, real estate gifts, planned gifts, life insurance, bequests, capitol, legacy giving, please contact Richard Harris, 619-255-3345
